The New Rules of Health (And My Wish)

Here’s the deal…

Our world has changed and there is a new set of rules.

What worked 50, 40 or even 20 years ago is no longer applicable.

This goes for several areas like real-estate, business and also for health, nutrition and fitness.

But why?

Well for one, the environment in which we live has dramatically changed (maybe the word ‘declined’ is a better fit).

The environment in which we live is full of toxins. The government we keep is sold to mega-corporations. When we get sick, the doctor treats us by anti-depressants and people are so full of shit these days that there is research to prove anything.

It’s not that I’m anti-establishment; it’s just that I am “Pro-Give-A-Damn!” I’m Generation Y raised meets old-school morals.

Back to the point in focus…

I was on Facebook this morning when I saw a ‘self proclaimed sceptic’ write ‘detox therapies are scams, detoxing is the livers job’.

As someone who knows the industry, I’ll be the first to admit that there is more than a fair share of bad (very bad) detox products on the market. However this blanket statement infuriated me.

I mean is this guy blind to the fact that we have dumped 85,000 chemicals in our environment since World War II? None of these have been tested on children.

Or the fact that there is a worldwide decline of the male population (except in China were parents socially prefer males). By the way, this is across the animal kingdom. In fact many reptiles are being born both male and female.

Maybe the sceptic is missing the fact that male testosterone is at a worldwide low. The WHO (World Health Organisation) has lowered the “normal” testosterone levels of men. They have also considered lowering the average body temperature from 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 Fahrenheit) to 36.6 degrees Celsius (98 Fahrenheit). Not because that’s what it should be, but because people are so unhealthy these days; that’s the norm!

In the 1960’s the average sperm count per mill-litre was 80 million. Today’s “normal” is 20 million.

287 chemicals were detected in umbilical cord blood of NEW born babies. Of these, 180 chemicals cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain or nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animals. Scientists refer to the presence of such toxins in the newborn as “body burden”.

I mean what the fudge? Toxins might be common, but their place in the human body is certainly not normal.

The sceptics are clearly in the denial. In fact, I would challenge that they are true sceptics in the first place. The only people who pretend toxins are not an issue are people in government and people who work for the corporations dumping the chemical.

Toxicity is an issue we should all be concerned with. We must actively seek better options. I recently did an interview with Mark Schauss, a leading expert in toxicity. He does a much better service of explaining the issue. I highly recommend you download the interview here.

Something has to change.

One of the most inspiring sites I’ve seen is this:

It’s NOT because of the political agenda which I care not to discuss. It’s because the people of the country actually CARED about the political agenda.

They are standing up and saying, Hey government, something has to change!”

Why can’t we tell our government that we don’t want pesticide-laden food?

Why can’t we say no to Coles and Woolworths? They have far too much power over and are destroying the local farmers and local food industries.

Why can’t we say no to all genetically-modified food?

No to fluoridated water?

No to homogenised and pasteurised milk?

No to high fructose corn syrup?

No to trans-fats?

Put a tax on high calorie, sugar laden beverages?

Strongly promote local organic farming?

. . . And actually LEAD the planet in being healthy?

I know I’m not the only one who wants to eat healthy without having to worry about toxins and soil problems most have never heard of.

The REAL problem is that every time you (yes, I’m talking to YOU!) spend money, you are voting.

Genetically-modified foods are legal in Europe however, they are rare. Why? Because the European market does not want genetically-modified foods and it refused to consume them.

I believe voting with dollars counts hundred times more than the vote you make once every four years to elect another dummy.

In this vote, you tell companies what you will and won’t accept. With each and every swipe of the card, every cash transaction, you are voting for what you believe in.

As I said at the beginning, the rules of the game have changed. The only way to make your vote count is to change your vote.

So what’s my wish?

If I had one wish it would be that local farms supplied local communities with food. It’s kind of simple really. Instead of one or two companies (Coles and Woolworths) controlling the food supply we get lots of farmers, all over the country supplying us with food.

In fact, when asked what would be my only advice for people to stay healthy, I used to say “eat like a caveperson”.

Now I just say, “eat whatever you want, so long as it comes from your local farmer.”

Commercial agriculture is “biotic cleansing”. It wipes the land and the soil. It has to end one day and it is arguably the worse thing environmentally we have done to the planet.

As I said at the start, it’s not that I’m anti establishment; it’s just that I am “Pro-Give-A-Damn!”

Call to Action:

1.   Join me in being “Pro-Give-A-Damn!

2.   Shop at your local farmer’s market.

3.   Go to Google and type in “Rotary farmer’s markets” or “farmer’s markets” and see what comes up. There should be one near you. One person can make a difference.

Remember, every vote counts.
